WHY CITE SOURCES?
1. CITATION PROTECTS YOU. If information is inaccurate or outdated (...not likely to happen with the use of CVL sites, but nothing is perfect.) you won't lose credit.
2. YOU ARE A GOOD, HONEST PERSON. Taking credit for something that belongs to (was created by) someone else is STEALING - and it's mean - don't be mean.
3. AVOIDS CONSEQUENCES - Plagiarism at its worst can result in failing an assignment in Middle School, failing a course in high school, and expulsion in college. It is important that you learn how to cite your information now.
BONUS: Most CVL references will have citations provided on the page. Carefully search the page for "How to cite this page," "citation," or "cite".
bibme.org IS A SITE THAT WILL CREATE YOUR CITATION IN A FEW EASY STEPS.
For books: select the book tab and type in the Title or the ISBN found on the back of the book.
For websites: select the website tab and paste the weblink into the box
If BIBME doesn't already know the bibiliography (citation) for your source, it will open a form. Simply fill in the information and BIBME will do the rest.
